All About Printmaking
The Vernon Public Art Galleryoffers print making sessions to all levels. Students learn different
printing techniques - collograph, monoprint, and linocut. We use only waterbased printing
ink.
- The workshops are two hours long and include a gallery tour.
- Cost for linocut block printing is $4 per student.
- Cost for monoprint or collography is $3 per student.
- Minimum 12 students per class or mazimum 25 students per class.
- All materials are included.
Linocut
A smaller class ensures a more relaxed atmosphere and a better learning process. The cutting of the lino demands concentration
and attention to the negative and positive spaces. The students learn how
to apply the water soluble printing ink on the linocut and how to work the printing press. Each student will have one
finished linocut plus one finished print on archival paper.
Monoprint
Monoprints are a painterly approach to printmaking. The students paint an image onto the surface of a plexiglas
plate. Students learn about different printing papers and how to work the printing press. Each student
will have two prints on archival paper. Cost is $3 per student.
Collography
Collograph printing includes different materials like puzzle pieces, coarse farbics, and string which are
glued and assembled onto a surface. This technique concentrates on composition and spatial understanding.
Students will learn to work the printing press and take home their creation. Cost is $3 per student.
